BoingBoing.net directed me to http://www.injusticeeverywhere.com/ This site provides a daily feed of police misconduct. Some of the shit cops get away with makes me sick while other things they get away with make me want to carry a gun in my car...
MotherJones.com has an interesting and educational piece up about the wealth distrubution in the United States. It uses various graphing methods to express the major inbalance of wealth in the US and gives some pretty convincing, albeit just my interpretation, data that suggests that the wealth distrubution will not change, ever.

I've been working on YouQuest again. I had left it alone for a while because of a combination of not having the time and not really knowing what to do next. Well, I sat down and worked out a list of things that actually need dealing with and a list of things that I personally want to see in the final product; the former of the two lists is actually rather short and therefore the project has almost reached its first release.
I will hopefully continue to work on implementing the latter of the two lists and continue to polish the game but after two years I am ready to see what people think.
The headline says it all, but here is a little bit of what Wolfire had to say:
The Humble Indie Bundle experiment has been a massive success beyond our craziest expectations. So far, in just over 7 days, 123,191 generous contributors have put down an incredible $1,126,663. Of this, contributors chose to allocate 30.94% to charity: $348,549 for the Electronic Frontier Foundation and Child's Play Charity. I have made a page for the full breakdown including credit card fees in a JSON format
Congratulations guys, I think you've made indie gaming history.
Last week I wrote about Wolfire's Humble Indie Bundle which allows you to pay what ever price you want for a package of 5 popular Indie games. Well, the bundle now includes 6 games and those who have already purchased the bundle are being given the additional title as well.
Wolfire has also added some additional stats to their real-time statistics block, the average contribution broken down by OS, and it looks like Linux users have been the most generous.
With an average donation of $14, Linux users have demonstrated (in my opinion) that the users of free software are not the outlaws at the core of piracy that the open-source community is made out to be by various industries.
Ok, so I saw this article featured on boingboing.com and thought it has amusing, but wasn't going to promote it because it was sort of boring to read. However, it ended up being about a story about Charleson WV (kinda where I live) so I decided to push it.
Now, for the love of god please understand that this article is on theonion.com. If you are not familiar with The Onion, then you might be better off skipping this one. The Onion is a fictional news publisher, not real ok?
And they like profanity... alot.
wolfire.com is running an indie game bundle, called Humble Indie Bundle, that consists of 5 different, and rather good, indie games. All 5 games are offered for Linux, Mac, and Windows and are DRM-free. This is all well and good but the kicker in my opinion is that the bundle is offered as a "pay what you want" that you, the consumer, are encouraged to divide between the developers and several charities.
I have always been a fan of "pay want you want" as a consumer but not so much as an entrepreneur, however I think that wolfire may have hit the nail on the head here.
They are offering major value (multiple games including the acclaimed World of Goo and the feel good of being charitable) and providing you with the information needed to choose an informed price, including current earnings and average donation.

Hurray, oh hurray. I have seen nearly every incarnation of live-action Street Fighter and have been more disappointed every time. Could this be the one that gets it right? I think it could be.
From the article:
As an actor, film maker and a fan, I have been repeatedly disappointed by the many diluted, un faithful and outright butchered movie adaptations of fighting video games. It was clear to me, that given the way the movie industry worked, we would never see a super faithful, darker toned and more adult themed (or just plain good!) incarnation of Street fighter unless a die-hard fan director or film-making team with the game canon knowledge, film making know how and connections stepped up to the plate to helm such a project.
So almost a year ago, I began writing treatments and a production design brief and partnered with Streetlight films before proposing my concept and vision to Capcom. I'm pleased to say they gave their blessing and permission for the project to move forward.
